The Science of the Ritual

The lipid barrier. In dry skin the barrier is more fragile and water evaporates more easily, leaving tightness and roughness. Every phase of VELVET SKIN protects and rebuilds it.
Cleansing without taking away. Harsh foaming cleansers strip away the few lipids dry skin has. Balm and milk cleanse while nourishing.
Layering. First come the humectants that draw in water, such as hyaluronic acid and urea. Then the emollients that hold it in, such as rice oil and plant butters. Applying cream to still-damp skin seals in hydration.

FAQ

Dry skin or dehydrated skin: does the ritual work for both? Yes. Dry skin lacks lipids, dehydrated skin lacks water. VELVET SKIN provides both: hyaluronic acid and urea to quench, plant oils and butters to nourish and hold in hydration.
I have dry skin: why double cleanse? Because in VELVET SKIN both steps nourish. The balm dissolves makeup and SPF with precious oils, while the milk cleanses with an emollient, non-foaming texture. Skin is clean but never tight.
The YY cream is designed for mature skin: can I use it if I’m younger? Certainly. The nourishment of rice oil and the elasticizing action of echinacea are valuable for dry skin at any age, and after 40 they also become an anti-aging gesture.
The cream has a matte texture: is it nourishing enough for very dry skin? Yes, it nourishes deeply without leaving a greasy film. For maximum comfort, apply it to skin that is still slightly damp from the Mist: this way it holds in more water.
Can I use the products around the eyes? Yes. The Cleansing Balm doesn’t sting the eyes, and the YY serum and cream are also formulated for the eye area.

How to use

The Evening Ritual, the most complete

Cleansing Balm. Warm a hazelnut-sized amount between dry hands and massage onto dry face, eyes included, with circular motions. Emulsify with a little lukewarm water and rinse.
Cleansing Milk. Apply to face and neck with the damp YA.BE Cleansing Pad, massage avoiding the eye area and remove with lukewarm water.
Hydrating Botanical Mist. Spray 20 cm from the face onto skin that is still slightly damp.
YY – Simply Beauty Serum. Apply 2-3 drops to face, neck and eye area and allow to absorb.
Hydrating Botanical Mist. A second spray to boost hydration.
YY – Simply Beauty Cream. Pat onto the different areas of the face and massage with circular motions over face, neck and décolletage while skin is still slightly damp.
